are not keeping crowds from celebrating the holiday. thousands are joining in with big parades around the area. we're live in towson. >> reporter: a lot of people out here having a good time listening to the bands. it's quiet right now. bands have been coming through getting the crowd going with the patriotic music. a lot people started like up early this morning to get good seats. parades are happening in towns and cities across maryland today. for kids on the fourth of july, a parade ranks right up there with the fireworks. >> it means a lot to us. i'm in the air force, so it means quite bait to us to get to celebrate and spend time as a family. >> for adult, a day to celebrate the red, white and blue is more than just about counting their blessings. >> this is a day to appreciate what a tremendous blessing we have in this great country of ours and to appreciate the men and women who put on our uniform to defend our freedoms. >> it's a great day to be an american. >> a parade like this is not cheap to put on. this in towson costs in the range of $30,000. the good news is all of that paid for thr

're planning to head to the national mall for the big show, there are a few things you need to know. how you can get there, what you can bring and what you shouldn't try to brig. will thomas is live on the mall with the latest. >> reporter: the crowds are starting to build. if coming down, my recommendation, go for it. there is not a bad view on the national mall of the fireworks, but i can show you the best view. let's roll the videotape. that is the base of the washington monument facing the lincoln memorial. the fireworks are set off near the reflecting pool which happens to be under construction. let me remind you what you can't bring in past the security perimeter. no alcohol, nothing that would be considered a weapon like knives, i think the rest is obvious. and they're also asking that you don't bring tents, although i am seeing some erected here. we're not sure if they're going to let them stay up through the fireworks and this is that sample of the folks who came early to review the fireworks beginning at 9:10 tonight j. we're hearing about the fireworks on the mall and thought it w

know it's still a big brick wall. and for those people who think circumstantial evidence isn't enough, i have two words for you. scott peterson. he's sitting on death row right now in california with exactly the same type of case. no cause of death, nobody sauce him murder anybody, nobody could link him forensically to any part of the death, but the jury looked at all of it together and they said, you know what? that's enough for that brick wall of guilt. >> and casey anthony, we saw her today. she mouthed something when she made it very clear the prosecutor tried to paint her as a bad mother. what do we think of how we've seen her behaving, crying, sometimes stoic, sometimes serious. >> actually, suzanne, one of the charges that the judge is going to give, and that's what we call it. legally speaking, we say the judge is going to charge the jury. and basically, all it means is he's going to give them an instruction book and the instruction book is these are the laws that apply to this case. okay? this is the first degree murder charge. this is the aggravated man slaughter charge. thi

's a big chance the defense is taking to go after the father of the defendant. when have you ever seen that in in any trial in this country? and yet, baez diecided that he had to raise questions about george anthony so the jurors would go back to the deliberation room to say too many questions in this case to be certain enough to convict on first degree murder. somehow the duct tape got on caylee's mouth. baez is trying to plant the seed that maybe george anthony did it for some bizarre reason, who knows? but again, it isn't the defense burden to prove anything and if the jury has these free floating question marks, some anxieties about the burden of proof, that could be enough to get either not guilty or as was pointed out a couple of moments ago, a couple of hold up jurors who said i'm not going to convict casey anthony of first degree murder. there's not enough evidence to convince me beyond a reasonable doubt. >> great to see you this morning. thanks so much. happy fourth of july to you and to your viewers this morning, we want to let you know that at 8:30 eastern time, continuing

, but never quite so close to default. since we've been accumulating a big national debt, congress has raised the debt ceiling just 78 times. since 1960 alone. since the nation's debt reached the $1 trillion mark in the early 1980s, look at how government borrowing has skyrocketed. climbing really at an ex exponential rate. how is $14 trillion in relation to how big the economy is. it's about 95% of the size of the whole economy. we're fast approaching rates not seen since way back in world war ii and the great depression. when the size of the debt limit and the national debt was actually bigger than our gdp. this is what economists call a debt crisis. america runs by borrowing money. right now, 38 cents is borrowed money. if the debt kreeling is not raised in time, the u.s. could default on some of the payments. that's the last thing we need, recovering from a recession. >> fomdominique strauss-kahn ma face new sexual assault charges even though the case in new york is falling apart.
